In the tenth century a small land called Kiev empire lived in the east of europe. Actually it was a collection of smaller kingdomes - the Russ. The land lived from agriculture and just had started to exist.
But one day the land got attacked and invaded by the golden army - the mongols.

One day Kahgan Ajaj, the grand duke, decided Russ should learn how to hunt, so it could do this for the Mongols as well.
At the first evening Kahgan Ajaj shot a mighty elk. It was a beautyful animal, and the Mongols would have no food worries for the next days.
But Russ stood next to the dead animal and started to cry.
"Whats the matter with you?" Ajaj asked. "We got to kill to survive. So finally be a man!"
But Russ couldnt stop crying. So Ajaj punished Russ and hit him many times.
The days ran by and so did the weeks. And every day Kahgan Ajaj took Russ out for a hunt. And every time it ended the same.
And so days rushed by.
One evening Kahgan Ajaj and Russ where on their way home from a successfull hunt and Ajaj was surprised to hear nothing. No sobbing, no crying, not the usual whining. Ajaj looked down from his high horse and onto Russ who was dragging his first own prey behind himself through the snow.
"Are you happy?"
Russ looked up. [link]
"yes, Kahgan, Sir! Its not much, but... its how you said. You got to kill to survive."
Content Ajaj looked back on the way in front of them. "Finally you became a man." he said smiling.
